A is for....

AGILITY.

Since rather new to the blogging world, I figured I'd do the alphabet thing too to give me something to talk about!

A is for agility. Of which I do not have. Recently, Dale and I decided that we needed to start making better choices for ourselves in regards to what we eat (currently: unhealthy) and how active we are (currently: non-existant). I have never really been an active person. I played sports growing up but quit as soon as I could becasue it was too much work. ha. I am really lazy. Dale, on the other hand, has been an athlete his whole life with playing football and all. I think because he was so active up until 3 years or so ago when he stopped playing, his metabolism is still going strong whereas mine dwindles by the day. Either way, we argued, we both needed to improve.

SO, we decided to start running for a number of reasons. It is easy and convenient. We live in a house and it's in a decent neighborhood. We can do it together without going to a gym so it is free AND we can bring along Molly (the dog). Now please let me clarify, our "running" consists of walking, merely jogging, walking again, and then maybe getting up to a running pace for about 50 feet. Dear lord, it is hard to run. It pretty much makes your whole body sore. Dale thinks it is fun to challenge me when we get back with sit ups but I think it is pure torture. It also doesn't help that he can do everything better than me becuase he is bigger, stronger, and more agile.

We've been ralkogging (run, walk, jog) for the past 2 nights. Not exactly a committed amount of time, but you have to start somewhere right? And the past two nights have been so cold that your lungs hurt after you run that it is a miracle we (I) haven't given up yet. That counts for something, right?

I am WAY impressed! I'm a walk/jog/walker, but mostly walker, too. I just can't seem to run more than a few minutes. I don't think I was made to run. Good luck with your healthy plan! I need to get with it too!

Emily, I have a saying about running:

I hate it, but if someone rolls a soccer ball out in front of me I'll run all day.

That's so great that you guys are ralkogging! It seems like everyone here runs, it's unbelievable! I've never been around so many runners in my life, regardless of age, it's crazy.

Good luck!
