well, duh. Christmas!
I tried really hard for the past two weeks to think of a C but all I kept coming back to was cheerios and Christmas. Cheerios, honey nut of course, are my morning staple. But there just isnt a lot to blog about Cheerios. So I went with Christmas.
If you are on facebook, which who isn't these days?, you probably saw the pictures I posted of Dale and I decorating our house. This really consisted of Dale doing the tree and me doing everything else. Christmas decorations are expensive. I am slightly ashamed at how much money I spent on decor this year so I will not disclose that information. BUT since this was our first married Christmas together, we needed some staple items that can for sure be used for Christmases to come. That was my thinking anyways. You know, like save the lights and wreath, etc. Dale seems to think because of my fascination with all things new and shiny however, that each year I will need to re-buy everything we already have simply because a new and better version has come along. I have yet to tell him, he is probably right.
Anyways, Christmas is my and about 100 million other Americans favorite holiday. I really try to to remember the reason for the season but that gets harder and harder each year. The "worldly" me becomes obsessed with "wants" and "must haves" and completely forgos all practical thinking. There is always going to be "stuff" that we want. Being that we just got married and got everything wecould possibly imagine for our house from friends and family, I really dont "need" anything for Christmas. But of course I find things. Like an upgraded ipod nano or a nintendo DS. (which i really want purely for entertainment purposes). And it's not that we aren't supposed to enjoy receiving gifts, because I do. But I also know how much joy I get in giving gifts. So Dale and I decided each year of marriage, we would pick a different organization or charity to donate time and/or money to. This year was the Salvation Army Angel Tree, you know where you pick the angel off the tree and buy toys and clothes for them. I picked a baby girl and dale had a 4 year old boy. We went to Walmart Monday night and bought all kinds of fun stuff for them. Audrianna got a pink jacket and a Diego riding toy (They were out of Dora). And Deran got some track pants and hot wheels. And while we dont really get to see them receiving their gifts, it is satisfying to know you helped someone this Christmas and that is what it really is all about!

1) Honey Nut Cheerios share a special place in my heart with very few other things (like Southern Miss, sports, and family)
2) I really like you and Dale's idea about the donations. It's very in-the-Christmas-spirit.
3) How was the snow? I had none in Ohio, it was very cold but with no snow.
ummm C is for Cupcake!
